Since last 2 days, many areas of Uttar Pradesh have been experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall. The reason for this weather activity can be attributed to the axis of a trough passing through the region. Sometimes this trough is seen from Punjab to Bay of Bengal and sometimes from West Rajasthan to Bay of Bengal.
But this trough is continuously passing through Uttar Pradesh. It is only the western hand of this trough that is oscillating between the two states.
All along the Monsoon, good rains have been observed over Uttar Pradesh. There was also a cyclonic circulation over Uttar Pradesh that has enhanced the rain activity over the region.
Now East Uttar Pradesh that was rain deficient by 28% by July 1 is now only 4% rain deficient. Whereas West Uttar Pradesh was 16% rain deficient on July 1 and is now 5% rain surplus.
By comparing such figures it can be said that good rains occurred during last 48 hours over the state. The cyclonic circulation over West Uttar Pradesh has defused but the trough will continue to pass over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and adjoining parts.
The low-pressure area over Bihar and adjoining areas is expected to shift towards Uttar Pradesh and would enhance the rain over the state.
Rain may decrease over West Uttar Pradesh for next 2 days but fairly widespread rainfall will continue over Central and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. This rainfall activity may increase the rain figures.
