Rajasthan was not so fortunate enough to witness good rains in the month of July. While most of the country was relishing good Monsoon showers, rains refrained themselves from pouring over the desert state of the country. Apart from a few rainy instances, Rajasthan failed to observe good rains.

However, finally, rain gods bestowed upon parts of the state with some really good rains that have been occurring over the state from the last 48 hours and are further likely to continue showing up for another 24 hours.

In the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Barmer recorded a whopping 56 mm of rains, Sawai Madhopur 51 mm, Jodhpur 20 mm, Jaipur 14 mm, Ajmer 12 mm, and Bundi recorded 7 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, the reason for these light to moderate with isolated heavy showers can be attributed to the low-pressure area which was over South Gujarat. Due to this weather system, rains have occurred over parts of East Rajasthan. However, now this low-pressure area has moved slightly towards the north and is currently seen in the Kutch region and parts of Central Rajasthan.

Moreover, an associated upper air cyclonic circulation also persists over the region. In addition, the axis of Monsoon trough also passes through the Centre of the low-pressure area over Gujarat and the neighborhood. Skymet Weather reiterates that the system mentioned above is likely to weaken and merge with the axis of Monsoon trough after 24 hours.

Due to the interaction of both these weather systems, East and South Rajasthan will continue to witness heavy rains at a few places while isolated heavy showers may also make an appearance. Thus, districts such as Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Kota, Bhilwara in the southern region while Sawai Madhopur, Jhalawar, and Bundi may continue with isolated heavy showers. A few spells can even occur in parts of West Rajasthan as well.

Except for the northern districts, almost the entire Rajasthan will witness good rains for the next 24 hours. However, as the Monsoon trough will shift towards the north, districts of North Rajasthan such as Alwar, Sri Ganganagar, Churu, and Jhunjhunu will also get to see rains.
