At present, the Depression has weakened into a Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area and is presently lying over North Gujarat and adjoining Southeast Rajasthan. In the last 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rainfall has occurred over Mount Abu, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bhilwara and adjoining places due to the effect of the Depression. While Udaipur recorded 111.6 mm of rains, Chittorgarh 39.0 mm, Mount Abu saw a whopping 134 mm of rains.

The system has now weakened but still rain will continue with moderate to heavy intensity over multiple regions of Rajasthan.

These sudden heavy rains over a same area may cause flash floods. Rivers like that of Gomati, Banas and Berach as well as dams are already on the verge of overflowing with rainwater. The water might even accumulate over the connecting roads while flooding them. Thus, extensive damage is possible over Southeast and southern parts of Rajasthan in the next few days.

As the weekend coincides the rains, precaution has been extended to tourists against stepping close to the river basins.

The rains will, however, pick a decreasing note after 24 hours as the system is likely to weaken after 24 hours and is likely to move further Northwards. The inclement weather is likely to clear up after next 24 hours.
