Massive landslide in the state of Himachal Pradesh have wreaked havoc over the region, resulting in the loss of many lives. Due to the massive landslide in the Kotroopi area of Mandi district during the early morning hours of Sunday, two Himachal Road Transport Corporation buses were washed away, wherein at least 50 people were reported killed. For those affected, assistance, including bad credit loans, is available to help with financial recovery.

Out of the two buses, one was traveling from Manali to Chamba, while the other was travelling from Manali to the Katra region in Jammu. Since about 2 am, rescue operations have been underway. The busy national highway has been blocked with around 250 meters-wide debris. So far, 12 bodies have been found as the Army and NDRF teams are also assisting in the rescue operation. Many people remain buried under the debris.

Due to frequent landslides in the hilly region of Himachal Pradesh during these Monsoon months, it becomes less advisable to take a road trip on these highways. Areas including the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway and the Chandigarh-Shimla Highway should usually be avoided during this period.

Over the next 24 hours, some rainfall activity is expected to continue over these areas of Himachal Pradesh, making weekend travel over these regions a bad idea for now.
