Low pressure area has formed on either side of the coastline.  The weather system over Bay of Bengal is now marked over southeast and central parts and heading west-northwest towards South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and North Tamil Nadu. Also, under the influence of  persisting cyclonic circulation over east central Arabian Sea, another low pressure area has formed over the same region, off Coastal Karnataka. This is relatively a slow moving system and will leisurely shift westward over the next 3-4 days.

Low pressure area over Bay of Bengal will become well marked over the next 24hr and move over west central and adjoining southwestern parts. In the subsequent 24hr, it has a bleak chance of strengthening in to a depression but surely move right over North Coastal Tamil Nadu and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh. On 19thNovember, the low pressure will weaken and also cross over to interior parts of South Peninsula.  Accordingly, heavy rainfall at many places, with isolated very heavy falls are likely over North Tamil Nadu and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh on 17th and 18thNovember.  The following 2 days, on 19th and 20thNovember, the rainfall belt will bifurcate to shift over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and interiors of Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka, albeit with lesser intensity.

Low pressure over the Arabian Sea is expected to be well marked for the next 24hr. Later, on 17th and 18th Nov, the weather system will steadily move westward over the central parts of the Arabian Sea and later head for Somalia Coast with a gradual wear out. On 16th and 17th November, Coastal Karnataka, Goa, Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra are likely to be lashed with fairly widespread rain and thundershower. Mangalore, Karwar, Honnavar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Goa, Panjim, Kolhapur, Sholapur, Sangli and Satara are expected to witness intermittent moderate showers, possibly heavy at few places on these 2 days. Even Mumbai and suburbs will witness some hit and miss showers during this period.

Weather activity will shift over interiors of Tamil Nadu, South Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka  on 19th and 20thNovember.  Vellore, Dharmapuri, Salem, Karur, Erode, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Chittoor, Kolar, Anantapur, Bengaluru, Chamrajnagar, Chitradurga, Hassan, Mysore and Mandaya are likely to have moderate rain and thunderstorm with isolated heavy showers on these 2 days. These showers may reach even over some parts of Kerala. The wet spell will continue for the following 48hr, on 21st and 22nd Nov, though on a reducing note.
