Tropical Cyclone Pam has left the Oceanian island nation Vanuatu in the South Pacific Ocean completely devastated. After blazing through the South Pacific Ocean as a Category 5 hurricane, it made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane on Friday at around 11.23 PM local time. As per latest reports, Cyclone Pam has claimed at least six lives so far and the death toll is expected to rise.
Meanwhile, the Vanuatu President Baldwin Lonsdale has appealed for help for the untold destruction left behind by Cyclone Pam. Numerous homes have been shredded and entire communities have been reduced to ruins. The airport at Vanuatu’s capital Port Vila has also been closed down due to damage. Relief flights will arrive with vital aid once the airport is open for landing.
