Trivandrum, Kottayam to get good rains, light spells for Kozhikode, Kannur

After being throttled by Cyclone Ockhi that unleashed torrential rains over the southern coastal regions of Kerala, the rainfall activity has now become silent. Almost the entire state has now become dry with the maximums varying between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius thereby making the days warmer.

However, the tables turned upside down and isolated places of the state recorded some light spells the past day. Within the span of 24 hours, from 08:30 am as on Tuesday, stations such as Alappuzha and Punalur recorded light rainy traces to the tune of 8 mm and 2 mm respectively.

On the contrary, most of the other regions remained dry. Though, Skymet Weather predicts chances of some rains to show up in the state.

As per Skymet Weather, a trough is extending from South Interior Karnataka to Interior Tamil Nadu. In the wake of this, scattered rains are expected over many parts of Kerala for at least next 24-48 hours However, these rains are expected to mainly remain confined to the southern coastal and a few central regions of the state.

Districts such as Kollam, Kottayam, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Idukki may get good rains while Kozhikode and Kannur are anticipated to witness light rains. These rains are likely to continue for another 24-48 hours after which, the weather is likely to become dry again.

Thereafter, the temperatures are also expected to rise marginally with the maximums settling in lower 30’s while, the minimums may also remain between lower to mid-20’s.
