As the year ends and holiday season starts, one can see the increased number of people vacationing. But the pleasant weather conditions have sort of ruined the travel plans for the people visiting the hill stations of North India. While the southern India remains warm during Christmas, the hills of North India remain amazingly snowless and warm in case of Shimla. But there is one destination in the country which may receive some snowfall during Christmas.

Sitting in the lap of Sikkim, Gangtok and surrounding region may receive snow activity. Temperatures are already low at present with minimum temperatures hovering around 8-9°C mark. Shallow to moderate fog has been witnessed over Gangtok in the last couple of days.

Isolated rain in last few days was also witnessed but now easterly winds are blowing. Along with that the remnants of Western Disturbance which will be passing along the foothills of Himalayas over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, we can expect scattered rains over Gangtok and chances of snowfall in the nearby regions of the capital.

So for the people who are vacationing in Sikkim are requested to stay a little while longer and witnessed the Christmas snow. And people who already have their plans for Gangtok loaded will have an amazing Christmas to look forward to.
