Dense fog has tightened its grip over several parts of the northern and Indo-Gangetic plains on Monday morning. Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Bhopal, Amritsar, and Varanasi continued with dense to very dense fog for many consecutive days now, with visibility dropping to nil.

These weather systems have changed the wind pattern to relatively warmer and humid easterly winds. Along with this, night temperatures are settling on the lower side and wind speed is also very light. These reasons can be attributed to contributing to the dense fog formation.
According to Skymet Weather, the Western Disturbance which was over North Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir has shifted away and thus the fog intensity is though expected to reduce. However, the expected arrival of a new Western Disturbance is likely to again increase the formation of fog over the Northern areas.
Many sunny days are till date far from coming up as moderate to dense fog is expected to make a comeback again after 24 hours.
