Just about a few days ago, the Assam region was reeling under massive flood conditions. So much so that around 11 districts of the state were witnessing major crisis after floods refused to take a backseat last month.
In fact, more areas of Northeast India also were reeling under flooding conditions and around 85 people lost their lives in the entire region due to floods over the area. Not only this, at least 4 lakh people were affected throughout the Northeastern region due to massive flooding across Northeast India which lasted for days.
Now, the flood conditions have improved significantly over the region and life is coming back to its normal pace. However, Monsoon rains have once again made a comeback over many areas of Assam as well as adjoining states,

However, it seems like the rain gods are not done with the residents of Assam and adjoining areas yet. The last 24 hours have been rainy enough for many cities.
In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, North Lakhimpur witnessed a whopping 124 mm of rainfall, Silchar 36 mm, Golaghat 10 mm, Kohima 17 mm, and Lengpui 15 mm.

In fact, around August 9, both the states of Assam and Meghalaya will once again witness heavy to extremely heavy rains. These showers will continue for some time. These weather conditions will be attributed to the presence of the axis of the Monsoon trough. Not only this, strong winds from the Bay of Bengal will also increase moisture levels over the region.
Thus, these heavy rainfall activities are expected to cause flood conditions over both Assam and Meghalaya in the coming days just days after the previous flood fiasco.
