As predicted by Skymet Weather, torrential three-digit rainfall has made a comeback over parts of Madhya Pradesh.
All thanks to the deep depression that is prevailing over North Madhya Pradesh and South Uttar Pradesh.
In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Sagar recorded 164 mm of rain, Bhopal 115 mm, Damoh 109 mm, Tikamgarh 83 mm, Guna 82 mm, Indore 51 mm, Satna 51 mm, and Ujjain 50 mm.
Now, as we progress further, Monsoon rains will continue to pound several parts of the state in the coming days as well. Though the system is likely to weaken into depression any time soon, it will continue to bring heavy to very heavy rains over many parts of Madhya Pradesh during the next 24-48 hours. Few places are also likely to receive isolated heavy rains as well.
Now as the system moves away, another low pressure area is likely to develop in North Bay of Bengal. This system is also likely to shift westwards and start giving Monsoon rains of varying intensity, initially over East Madhya Pradesh and thereafter covering parts of West Madhya Pradesh as well.
Madhya Pradesh has been one of the best performing pocket across the country during the ongoing Southwest Monsoon. Both the regions of the state, East Madhya Pradesh and West Madhya Pradesh, have been highly rainfall surplus.
This has been on account of back to back weather systems developing in North Bay of Bengal, which traveled in west direction towards Madhya Pradesh. At present, the cumulative rains for East Madhya Pradesh is surplus by 35%, while, West Madhya Pradesh is excess by 33%.
