Goa witnessed vigorous Monsoon conditions during the last 24 hours, wherein most parts of the coastal state recorded torrential rains. Ponda station recorded the highest rainfall of 105 mm on Monday.
According to Skymet Weather, the low pressure over East India has kept the off-shore trough active along the West Coast. Though the trough runs from Konkan & Goa up to Kerala, it had been more marked over Goa.
Now, the weather system has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area and is moving in west-northwest direction. With this, we expect moderate to heavy rains to continue during next 24-48 hours as well.
Let us have a look at the rainfall figures recorded across the state in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday.
Goa is one pocket which has been invariably receiving good Monsoon rains ever since the beginning of the Monsoon. Though, intensity of rains might have been varying from time to time, the state had been continuously receiving rains.
In June, Goa surpassed its monthly average figure of 861.5 mm. July also has a daunting target of 899.8 mm but with good rains in offing, Goa can exceed this figure too.
