Top five facts about snow and rain in Jammu & Kashmir on 12th March

Jammu & Kashmir has been receiving heavy snow and rain in the last two days under the influence of a strong Western Disturbance. Here are some facts about the snow and rain occurred between 8:30 am on Tuesday till 8:30 am on Wednesday.

1. Srinagar, the summer capital has recorded 58.3 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. This is the second highest snow and rain recorded in Srinagar since 16th March, 2007. Meanwhile, the winter capital Jammu recorded 38 mm of rain which is the second highest figure for Jammu in span of 24 hours in last 10 years in the month of March.

2. Banihal in the valley recorded 110.9 mm of snow and rain in a span of 24 hours. This was the second highest precipitation recorded in the last ten years after 124 mm on 13th March, 2007.

3. Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded the highest ever snow and rain in last 24 hours in March with a whopping figure of 133.4 mm.

4. Batole recorded 115. 9 mm of snow and rain which is the highest amount of rain witnessed in a span of 24 hours in the last ten years in March. The amount could beat the historical figure of 138.1 mm recorded on 6th March, 1976 as more precipitation is expected

5. Qazigund in the state also recorded the second highest rainfall of 84.2 mm in a span of 24 hours in last 10 years during the month of March. The highest precipitation recorded is 124.2, on 26th March, 1967. The place had recorded 109.6 mm of snow and rain on 13th March, 2007 which is highest in last 10 years.
