Rajasthan has definitely been the best performing region, in terms of Monsoon rains, across the country. Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over the state during last 24 hours as well. Such heavy showers have rather had a negative impact.

The northern parts of the state, which include places like Churu, Alwar and Bikaner, have witnessed light to moderate rains during last 24 hours. Bundi recorded 21 mm of rainfall, Chittorgarh 67 mm, Sawai Modhopur 34 mm, Pilani 18.4 mm, Kota 13.6 mm, Jodhpur 12 mm and Jaipur 4.5 mm of rainfall.

Rainfall will now reduce over the western parts of the state. However, Northeast Rajasthan will continue with light to moderate rainy spells while very light rains will be observed over southeast Rajasthan. Rainfall is likely to increase after 24 to 48 hours over East Rajasthan.

The present spell of rainfall could be attributed to the cyclonic circulation lying over East Rajasthan and neighboring areas. This weather system has now become less marked.

So far West Rajasthan has received 33% more rains than normal. This region witnessed 220.4 mm against the normal of 165.5 mm. East Rajasthan performed even better and recorded 58% more rains than normal. This subdivision has received 590.5 mm against the normal of 374.1 mm so far this Monsoon season.

As of now, the flood waters have still not receded from several parts of Rajasthan. Teams of Army, Air Force and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been carrying out rescue and relief work in few parts of the state which have been hit by heavy rains over the last few days.
