As predicted, rains have started lashing parts of Hyderabad for the ninth straight day. These showers were preceded by some intense thunderstorm and lightning strikes, which are the usual sight during this time of the year. The ongoing weather activity is also a sign of Northeast Monsoon being round the corner.
Also, the city has already recorded 95 mm of rains, so far. With some good spells in offing on Friday, weathermen forecast that Hyderabad might surpass its monthly average rains of 103 mm in the first 11 days of the month only.
Intense clouding had engulfed the city during the afternoon hours, with weather activities beginning soon thereafter. Rains are now likely to cover many parts of the city, paving for a pleasant evening.
Like it has been happening during the last few days, rains would be patchy and for a shorter duration, but can be intense in nature. We can expect light to moderate rains and thundershowers in Hyderabad, with few heavy spells as well.
As reiterated, these rains are on account of the trough running from Gangetic West Bengal to Rayalaseema across Telangana. Thus, infusing lots of moisture over the city, which when encounters with the rise in mercury leads to the formation of convective clouds.
Now, the trough is here to stay and with this, rains are also likely to stay put over Hyderabad and parts of Telangana for the next few days.
The ongoing rainy spell is not a surprise for the city as Telangana remains susceptible to weather activities during October, particularly around the onset of Northeast Monsoon. The state is also one of the beneficiaries of the three-month long Monsoon season.
