Delhi weather has once again begun to trouble the residents. In fact, the national capital after witnessing a few less hot days have now begun to feel the bitter taste of the scorching summer heat for quite some time now.

In fact, mercury has witnessed a sudden spike in the last few days. These weather conditions can be attributed to the absence of significant weather system over the national capital and its adjoining areas.

Mercury had not only crossed the 40-degree mark but had gone way past that. In fact, the maximum settled at a whopping 44 degrees at the Safdarjung observatory today which happened to be five degrees above the normal levels resulting in heatwave conditions over the region.

The residents have been craving for some rainfall and thunderstorm activity over the city to help them get rid of the unbearable sizzling summer heat.

Current status of Lightning and thunder over Delhi-NCR

However, rain gods are likely to make an appearance over the Delhi and the NCR region during the next 24 to 48 hours. These weather conditions will be attributed to a multiple number of weather features hovering close to the region.

While a cyclonic circulation is over Central Pakistan and adjoining North Indian Plains and a trough is running from this system across Uttar Pradesh, another circulation is over the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Thunderstorm along with the possibility of rain is likely over Delhi and adjoining areas during the evening hours tomorrow. This may usher in some relief and heatwave may abate from the region for some time at least.
