The city of Delhi has experienced above normal temperatures for almost all the days in the month of March. Temperatures in the Palam observatory clocked close to 30 degrees or above that for 17 days out of the 19 that have gone by. The observatory even saw maximums above 35 degrees on two occasions. The lowest here settled at 29.7 degrees Celsius while the highest was at a whopping 37.5 degrees Celsius.
Safdarjung observatory also followed a similar trend wherein there were only two occasions when temperature was at 29 degrees. The highest maximum here settled at 36.2 degrees Celsius. All this while, the average maximum had remained at least 4 to 5 degrees above the normal levels.

Yesterday also the maximum at Palam settled at 35 degrees Celsius which is about four degrees above the normal levels. Safdarjung was a tad bit higher at 35.5 degrees Celsius which is five notches more than the normal temperature.

Coming to the present weather conditions, a weather system in the form of a Western Disturbance is affecting the Western Himalayan region. Its induced cyclonic circulation is over Pakistan and adjoining West Rajasthan.
Delhi and the NCR region is falling on the fringes of this system thus thunderstorm may make an appearance over Delhi tomorrow and its adjoining areas along with a couple of passing showers.
This weather system is expected to bring a change in the wind pattern due to which dry northwesterly winds will become southeasterly during the latter part of the afternoon, remaining the same tomorrow as well. These winds will be moist in nature due to which humidity may increase but maximums may witness a drop due to which tomorrow and the day after that are likely to see the maximums around 31 and 32 degrees Celsius.
Looking at the temperature trend over the national capital during the last six months, in January maximums range between 21 and 22 degrees Celsius. As February comes in, the maximum increases to between 23 and 26 degrees.
As March sets in, the range of maximum increases to quite an extent and settles between 27 and 34 degrees Celsius. April sees summer creeping in with the maximum ranging between 35 and 38 degrees. Meanwhile, the maximum in may settles between 39 and 40 degrees Celsius. In the beginning of June, the maximum settles at 40 degrees but fades down to the 30s as Monsoon sets in.
