Hot and humid weather that has been bothering Delhiites for the past few days is expected to continue as no major relief from the ongoing humid conditions is foreseen as of now.
The maximum temperatures of the city are constantly on a rise and are being recorded near or above the 40-degree mark. Apart from this, the humidity level of Delhi and NCR is also high and is reaching around 50 to 60 percent. At present, easterly humid winds are blowing over the national capital and its surrounding areas.
In the wake of high humidity and soaring mercury levels, Delhi and its adjoining cities like Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad may experience dust storms and thunderstorms during the next 48 hours. Isolated dust storm and thunderstorms are also likely over the city today.

Along with this, isolated pockets of the city and adjoining areas may also experience light rains as well. True to their characteristics, these pre-Monsoon activities would mainly occur during the late afternoon or evening hours, thus, its effect on the rising temperatures would be less as, by that time, the temperatures would have already soared.
According to Skymet Weather, the pre-Monsoon activities may intensify after June 10. Thereafter, cloudy skies may also develop over Delhi and adjoining cities for the next three to four days. Gradually, the intensity of these activities would increase further and by June 15, we can expect intense pre-Monsoon activities over the national capital and its surrounding regions.
As Monsoon marked its onset over Indian mainland before time this year, Delhi and surrounding areas also have the possibility of an early Monsoon arrival. Monsoon usually makes its onset over Delhi by June 28, however, this time it can knock doors for Delhi and NCR much before the scheduled time.
