Thundershowers in the offing for Pune

Pune weather has remained hot and dry for the past ten days. The last time the city received some rain was on May 13 and that too a mere 1 mm. While temperatures have remained close to the normal levels for the past few days, the residents of Pune have been craving for some more rain.

Now, an upper air cyclonic circulation has developed over north-central Arabian Sea. Due to this, moist southwesterly winds will blow from the sea will increase moisture incursion resulting in cloud formation. A feeble trough along the West Coast will also result in some rainfall activity over some areas of Maharashtra.

Rain gods may seem ignorant as far as Pune is concerned, but, soon Pune is expected to receive isolated light thundershowers. More rainfall activity will be confined over the coastal areas including Mumbai. Pune may receive light rain after two to three days, i.e. between May 25 and 27.

Temperatures will continue to remain the same. During the rainfall activity, the mercury witness a drop of a few notches. Thereafter, a dry spell will take over Pune resulting in discomfort over the region.
