The states of Punjab and Haryana have been experiencing dry and warm weather since many days. However, rain or thundershower activities were witnessed by the people of Punjab and Haryana on October 11.
Also, some pockets of these two states witnessed hailstorm. These weather activities happened due to the ongoing Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir which is now seen moving in eastward direction. Moreover, its induced Cyclonic Circulation has also moved over Haryana and adjoining areas of North Rajasthan.
As per Skymet, the weather activities are expected to reduce gradually, and the weather will be clear by October 12. The day temperatures have already dropped by 4-5 degree-Celsius. As soon as the weather starts clearing up, clear sky and bright sunshine will once again make a comeback bringing day temperatures back to normal.
We do not expect any kind of weather activity to happen in coming 2-3 days, so no major relief in day temperatures is expected. However, night temperatures may fall by couple of degrees in next 48 hours.
Stubble burning has already commenced in many parts of Punjab and Haryana. This activity has certainly led to an increased level of pollution. These pollutants will be carried by winds blowing from northwest direction towards Delhi-NCR, again increasing levels of pollution. Since rains were not widespread, pollution continues to persist in many parts of both the states .
