With Monsoon season nowhere in sight and summer taking more than usual time to show up, rains have made home over most parts of India including North India. At present, rain activity can be seen over Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, parts of Odisha. Even Hyderabad and Chennai are witnessing light rain activity.
The weather activity over Punjab and Haryana can be seen because of the Western Disturbance seen over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. And thanks to this system, an induced cyclonic circulation is seen over Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan.
This cyclonic circulation over the region has allowed convective clouds to form, which is why thundering activity can be seen at many places over Punjab and at a few places over Haryana. This thundering activity will make way for some light showers at many places and moderate showers at few places over Punjab and Haryana.
In the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Amritsar received 0.4 mm of rains, Chandigarh 2 mm, Patiala 6 mm.
Chandigarh and its neighbouring areas like Mohali and few places like Patiala, Jalandhar and Ludhiana are likely to witness rain and thundering showers with gusty winds.
