The southern parts of the country have seen some intense rains in the last 24 hours wherein three-digit rains were also seen in a few areas. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Atiramapptinam recorded a whopping 155 mm, Cuddalore 109 mm, Valparai 85 mm, Puducherry 83 mm, Pamban 60 mm, Palakkad 58 mm, Punalur 54 mm, Thanjavur 53 mm, Ariyalur 49 mm, and Raichur 49 mm.
In fact, nine out of the top ten rainiest cities have been from the southern parts of the country. Rains have been moderate to heavy with isolated very heavy spells, particularly over Tamil Nadu and some parts of Kerala.
Now also, Coastal Tamil Nadu, Interior Tamil Nadu and Kerala will see rain for the next two days. These showers may not be very heavy and will mostly be moderate in nature with isolated heavy spells expected over the region.
