Mumbai rains that were in hiding for long have been back for the past couple of days and lashing the city of dreams with some heavy showers. In fact, as reiterated by Skymet Weather, three digit rains were witnessed over the city of Mumbai during the last 24 hours with waterlogging in some parts of the city. The month of September has also begun on a rainy note with the city witnessing good showers during the morning hours.
In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Santa Cruz observatory has witnessed 108 mm of rainfall, while Thane saw 150 mm of rains during the same time and Colaba recorded 57 mm of rainfall.
These rainfall activities are attributed to the low pressure area which has weakened into a Cyclonic Circulation and is currently over Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining areas. This system has activated the Monsoon surge along the West Coast resulting in heavy showers over Konkan region.
As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, Mumbai rains are expected to continue today as well with short breaks in between. These rainfall activities are expected to reduce in the next 24 hours and go further down in the subsequent 24 hours. However, weather is not expected to go completely dry.
