Three digit rains lash Kashmir, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Coastal Karnataka, Andhra

Southwest Monsoon has been in vigorous mode over the states of Himachal Pradesh as well as Uttarakhand. In fact, the region has witnessed three digit rainfall activity during the last 24 hours. These rains have occurred on account of the axis of Monsoon trough's western end shifting closer to the foothills, the Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayas and the induced cyclonic circulation over Northern Plains.

In fact, many pockets have seen three digit rainfall activity in the states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. In fact, some parts of Jammu and Kashmir also recorded rains in three digits during the same time frame.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Hamirpur saw 248 mm of rains, Kangra saw 123 mm, Panchkula 149 mm, Jawali 139 mm, Kufri 125 mm, Kangra 123 mm, Kasauli 158 mm, Solan 129 mm, Kathua 119 mm, Samba 124 mm, Dehradun 114 mm, Haridwar 189 mm, Sundernagar 151 mm, Dharamsala 148 mm, and Katra 118 mm.

Along with this, parts of Andhra Pradesh in view of the low pressure area in Bay have also seen heavy rains to the tune of three digit wherein East Godavari recorded 119 mm of rainfall.

Meanwhile, due to the activation of the off shore trough, rains have increased over Coastal Karnataka and the last 24 hours did see some heavy rainfall activity where Madikeri recorded 121 mm and Agumbe saw 126 mm of rains.
