The city of Dehradun along with the entire state of Uttarakhand has been witnessing good showers during the last few days. While, on some days, these rains have been light in intensity, while on other days, rains of moderate intensity lashed the capital city of Uttarakhand.

All thanks to the frequent Western Disturbances which have been making constant appearances over the Western Himalayas.

However, heavy rains did remain far away from the city of Dehradun for a long time. The last time the city had recorded heavy rains was around August 18.

These showers have been attributed to the presence of a Western Disturbance which is currently over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas. Along with this, the axis of the Monsoon trough has also shifted towards the foothills of the Himalayas.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, these showers are expected to lash the city during the next 24 hours. In fact, these showers will remain between moderate to heavy in intensity. The possibility of a few very heavy spells of rain cannot be ruled out as well.
