The city of Ahmedabad has had a decent start in terms of Monsoon rains in the month of August. Moreover, on August 1, heavy rains of 49 mm, while August 4 saw another heavy spell of 59 mm. Rains got very intense in the last 24 hours in view of the well marked low which is currently stationed in the vicinity of the state.
In fact, in the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Ahmedabad witnessed a whopping 109 mm of rainfall, which happens to be one of the most intense spells of rainfall in recent times.
Water logging has also been observed in many parts of the city in view of these heavy showers. Not only this, low lying areas observed inundation while a 200 feet road caved in in Lamba area causing a van to get stuck near Om Shanti Nagar.
Now, the weather system is weakening and has moved to the west, thus, weather activities in the city of Ahmedabad will witness a reduction. However, light to moderate rains may continue today as well. By tomorrow, weather will become dry after which no rains are likely for at least a week.
So far, the city of Ahmedabad has recorded mm of rains which is very close to its monthly mean at 266 mm. Seems like Ahmedabad this season will have no difficulty in reaching its monthly figures.
