Monsoon 2016 is getting stronger and dynamic with each passing day. The Southwest Monsoon has finally reached Gujarat and entered into some more parts of Madhya Pradesh. The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) now passes through Veraval, Surat, Ratlam, Jhansi, Lucknow, Pantnagar, Dehradun, Una and Jammu.

Keeping advent of the Monsoon and vigorous intensity of rainfall in mind, there are places in the country that recorded more than 100 mm of rains. Places like Cherrapunji in Meghalaya recorded a mammoth 181.3 mm of rainfall, followed by Cooch Behar in West Bengal at 165 mm of rainfall.

Whereas in Peninsular India, Panjim in Goa and Honavar in Karnataka recorded 155.8 mm and 114.8 mm of rainfall, respectively.

At present, the Monsoon is hearty and showering torrential rains along the West Coast, particularly over Coastal Karnataka and Goa. Similar is the case with the rains in Northeast India, particularly over Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya that too received heavy to very heavy rains.

Incessant rains have also lashed Sikkim, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar, East and Central Uttar Pradesh.

Today itself, Monsoon ventured into extreme southern parts of Gujarat. In the coming days, the Monsoon rains are expected to grow more exponentially. By the end of June, northern plains of Haryana, Punjab and Delhi is expected to be in the grip of Southwest Monsoon.
