A cyclonic circulation is lying over South Gujarat and adjoining north Konkan region. And, a trough from this system is extending up to North Kerala across coastal Maharashtra and Konkan & Goa.
Since last 2 days Monsoon has remained active to vigorous over Konkan & Goa making way for heavy to very heavy rainfall over the entire region. This is very well evident by the rainfall figures in the region.
Places that received rainfall over three-digits are Dahanu with 251 mm of rainfall. Alibaug also recorded 183 mm of rainfall. Harnai and Ratnagiri recorded 173 and 125 mm of rainfall, respectively. Mumbai and Bhira recorded 122 and 106 mm of rainfall.

Dahanu rainfall of 251 mm is the highest 24 hour rainfall in last 10 years. Now, we also expect that three-digit rainfall will continue over some more places in Konkan & Goa.
This can be attributed to a low-pressure area that is marked over Andhra Pradesh and is expected to move inlands and gradually towards Maharashtra. Thus, both the systems will tend to increase the rain activity over coastal Maharashtra by June 28 – 29. We expect some extremely heavy rainfall over Maharashtra coast between Ratnagiri and Dahanu.
It will not be a surprise to see more rain records being broken this year.
As of June 26, Konkan & Goa is 16% rain deficient. But with the advent of both the weather systems we think that June will end on a positive note for Konkan & Goa.
It is only Maharashtra that has witnessed the three digit rainfall in last 24 hours.
