Three days of rain forecast in Varanasi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Bareilly and other parts of Uttar Pradesh

The state of Uttar Pradesh has been observing fairly widespread rainfall activity in most parts since the night of February 20. The weather activity has been an outcome of the Cyclonic Circulation in Haryana and a trough extending from the system up to North Bihar.

According to the rainfall data available with Skymet, the above systems in a span of 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday have given Varanasi 17 mm of rain, Bahraich 10 mm, Fursatganj 9 mm and Muzaffarnagar 8 mm of rain.

The system (Cyclonic Circulation) has currently moved eastward and is lying close to the Central parts of Uttar Pradesh. And the Trough is still extending from Haryana up to North Bihar. Due to the change in the Cyclonic Circulation, the rainfall activity will reduce over West and Central Uttar Pradesh. The eastern part of the state including the foothills like Bareilly, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Gonda and Bahraich will continue to observe rainfall activity.

The weather activity in East Uttar Pradesh and the foothills will continue for the next three days. The main reason behind the activity is going to be the formation of a Cyclonic Circulation in the Bay of Bengal due to which a confluence zone will move towards East Uttar Pradesh in the next 48 hours.

Therefore there is a high probability for the region observing wet spell until 26 February. The day temperature for the next 3-4 days is going to drop in the region. Nights will, however, be a little comfortable.
