Rain in South India has remained on the sidelines ever since Northeast Monsoon bid adieu. In fact, the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Telangana have not seen much rains with some of the cities remaining practically dry for the longest time.
If we talk about two of the biggest capital cities of India, inclusive of Bengaluru and Chennai, rainfall activity has practically remained absent for a very long time. The last time that both of the cities saw some rainfall was on December 30.
However, it is all set to change very soon for the South Indian states as rainfall activity will make an appearance over several parts of Peninsular India.
States including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh as well as Telangana will be the ones seeing rainfall, which practically covers South India. These rainfall activities will occur over a three-day period between January 26 and 28. Most of the cities will see light rainfall only with a few areas observing moderate rainfall.
Eastern half of South India will see more rains as compared to the western regions. These rains will occur on account of multiple weather systems which includes a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal, a trough running from Gulf of Mannar to North Interior Karnataka along with a Cyclonic Circulation over Bay of Bengal.
Major cities of Bengaluru, Chennai, as well as Hyderabad will be the ones seeing some rainfall activity. Along with this, Puducherry may also be seeing some rainfall activity in the same time frame.
