The temperatures in Rajasthan have been soaring with the mercury level topping up tremendously. Parts of the state have remained dry due to the absence of any significant weather system. Though some rains did occur during the initial days of the month that drenched the parched Rajasthan.
Now as per Skymet Weather, a threat of short spell of dust storm looms large over the desert state. Particularly, parts of North and East Rajasthan are expected to get influenced by the dust storm activity. This sandstorm activity is likely to take place during today late afternoon or evening. Moreover, it is expected to continue for next 24 hours. Delhi and adjoining regions may also be affected by the sandstorm.
Generally, dust storms or sandstorms are a meteorological phenomenon that occurs due to the strong winds passing over the loosely soil or sand. As these winds are strong in nature, they pick up the sand particles thereby leading the visibility across the region to drop.
In the desert states like Rajasthan, dust storms are a frequent phenomenon. These sandstorms are also known to cause damages to property and human life.
When the temperatures are high and humidity increases, cumulonimbus clouds form, which is vertically developed clouds. During the pre-Monsoon season, these clouds are capable of causing dust storm and thundershower activity.
And by March 19, rains are also likely to show up in parts of the state due to a fresh Western Disturbance approaching the Western Himalayas.
