Third break monsoon condition is on its way

Northwest India has witnessed a prolonged break monsoon condition between august 9 and August 18, however, rain activities have resumed over many parts of Delhi Haryana Punjab and West Uttar Pradesh from August 19 and heavy downpour was witnessed on August 20.

At present axis of monsoon trough is in transition phase and it is moving across North India towards foothills of Himalayas. Rain activities are expected to subside significantly and westerly dry winds will continue over most parts of North West India including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan as well as parts of Northwest and West Madhya Pradesh leading to dry and hot weather conditions but rain activities will intensify once again over foothills of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

This break Monsoon will affect Northwest India, however rain activities will continue over Eastern parts of the country especially over foothills of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Places like Saharanpur, Bijnaur, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Gorakhpur, Gonda, Basti, Siddharthnagar, Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh and East Champaran, West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Kishanganj, Araria, Supaul, Forbesganj, Khagaria Purnia and Bhagalpur in Bihar may continue with good rains.

Hills of Nepal may also witness heavy downpour or which may increase the water flow over foothills of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar leading to flood like conditions. This break monsoon will be for shorter duration and may continue until end of august there are possibility of commencement of a rainfall over Northwest plains during first week of September as the axis of monsoon trough will once again start shifting south.
