North Indian plains were witnessing fog free mornings last week. Good visibility had become a common affair in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh as well as Delhi-NCR. Active Western Disturbances over the Western Himalayas were responsible for such weather conditions.
However, fog has once again has been making its presence felt in the North Indian plains during the past few days. During the early morning hours of today, foggy conditions were observed in many parts.
Today morning, Patna witnessed very dense fog with the visibility dropping 50 metres. Dense fog was also observed over both Amritsar and Lucknow with the visibility dropping to 100 metres. Very poor visibility was observed over Gorakhpur as well at a mere 100 metres.
The visibility in Delhi and the NCR region remained similar as of yesterday when the visibility dropped down to 400 metres today as well. Other parts of the North Indian plains including Allahabad and Varanasi observed shallow fog at 600 metres.
Coming to Northeast India, the region continued to observe shallow fog. While Imphal observed a visibility of 600 metres, Agartala also recorded shallow fog at 800 metres.
In view of foggy conditions, seven flights departing from Delhi were delayed with two arrivals being late. As far as trains are concerned, 52 delays were reported.
