The trend of three digit rainfall in India continues

Three digit Rainfall

While the entire India enjoys good Monsoon showers, the tale of rainfall above 100 mm has made a comeback in the country. Heavy showers were experienced over Himachal Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Bihar and Jharkhand, and parts of Northeast India.

A Monsoon trough is running along the Indo-Gangetic plains along with a cyclonic circulation embedded over Jharkhand and adjoining areas. This system is causing rain & thunderstorm activity over North and East India. This trough is also giving heavy rains over foothills of Northeast India.

During last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, Yamunanagar in Haryana recorded a mammoth of 210 mm of rain prompting flood like situation over the region, followed by Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh that observed 167 mm rains.

Heavy showers with extremely heavy at few places is likely to continue over Northern plains, including Delhi-NCR, Punjab, and Haryana, hilly states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand for the next 48 hours.

Moreover, heavy to very heavy rains is expected over Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.
