Mumbai Summer 1

The temperatures of most parts of Maharashtra have been witnessing new heights these days. Almost all the regions of the state are battling with the rising mercury levels. The extent of soaring daytime highs is such that soon heatwave may grip several parts of the state.

As per Skymet Weather, most parts of Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra are presently experiencing near normal or below normal temperatures. Meanwhile, most of the stations of Vidarbha and Madhya Maharashtra are already witnessing temperatures close to the 40-degree mark.

Until a few days back, the maximum temperatures were under check due to the prevalence of cool northwesterly winds. However, the wind profile is now expected to change their direction and the cool winds that were blowing from northwest direction would get swapped by the hot easterly winds.

These hot winds are expected to reach parts of Maharashtra in the next 24 hours. The temperatures that are already in higher 30’s or close to 40 degree Celsius would take a steep rise. Thus, the soaring mercury is likely to shoot by one or two degrees further.

Due to this, most parts of Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada like Chandrapur, Wardha, Akola, Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, Nanded, Parbhani, and Jalna may witness the daytime high close to 40°C.

In addition to this, no relief is likely in parts of Konkan & Goa as well. Mumbai and nearby areas would also see a rise of 3°C to 5°C in the next 24 hours. The weather in most parts of Konkan region would see the mercury levels rising to settle between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius. Moreover, is lying on the coastal belt, the weather would remain warm and humid.

Other coastal districts such as Ratnagiri, Bhira and thane will also experience extremely hot and sultry weather conditions. This would lead to high discomfort level across Konan & Goa.

People are advised to stay cautious and take adequate measures to fight against heat strokes.

However, isolated places of South Madhya Maharashtra like Sangli, Solapur and close to Goa region may even witness isolated thunderstorm activities towards late afternoon today.
