During the last two to three days, many parts of Rajasthan received rain and thundershower activities along with dust storm and hail storm activities. Southwest parts of Rajasthan such as Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Barmer received much less rain in comparison to other areas. Many parts of Gujarat also received heavy rain and thundershower on April 16.
These rain activities were due to an induced Cyclonic Circulation which was persisting over Western parts of Rajasthan. Moreover, humid winds from Arabian sea were pushing moisture over Gujarat and Rajasthan. Now the induced Cyclonic Circulation has weakened, and the rain belt has shifted towards the eastern parts of the country. Winds have also changed direction form Southwesterly/ Southeasterly to Northwesterly.
The winds blowing from Northwest will be hot and dry therefore, we now expect temperatures to increase over both the states. In fact, due to the recent rain activities both day and night temperatures witnessed a significant fall. Gradual increase in temperatures may lead to heat wave like conditions over both the states in the next two to three days. Although, heat wave will not make a comeback very soon and the next 4 to 5 days will be rather pleasant.
