Gujarat has been witnessing a see saw of temperatures for quite some time now. The temperatures have been following a fluctuating trend.
During the last few days, the state of Gujarat witnessed a rise of about 3 to 4 degrees in the minimum temperatures. The temperatures during that time were settling between 14 and 16 degrees in many cities. In fact, whileRajkotobserved a minimum of around 16 degrees, the minimum atAhmedabadsettled at 14.5 degrees.
Currently, a Western Disturbance is over Western Himalayan region which has resulted in good rains over the hills as well snow in some pockets includingShimla. Its induced cyclonic circulation had also given rains over the plains of North India today. Now, the induced system is moving eastwards.

Due to this movement, cold northerly winds will be predominant over the plains. Cooler air mass will reach the Gujarat region and ill have an effect over the temperatures. Thus, minimums will reduce over Gujarat during the next 48 hours.
Thus, there is expected to be a drop of about 3 to 4 degrees in the minimums over the region. Moreover, one or two stations in the interior areas may even witness the maximums in single digits as well.
