Temperatures likely to rise gradually in North India

For long, sudden thunderstorms and light rain have been giving respite from the hot weather in several places of North India. However, in the absence of any strong western disturbance affecting plains of North India and any other cyclonic circulation, day or maximum temperatures in major parts of Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh are expected to gradually rise.

Maximum temperatures were settling 4-5 degrees below normal in North and central India so far due to frequent Western Disturbances that were bringing rainy spells. Though according to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, there will no relief from the heat in cities like Ahmedabad, Amreli, Idar and Rajkot in Gujarat and Gwalior, Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. The temperatures will rise gradually and crawl back to normal, even touching 40 degrees in some places.

The trough of low pressure and wind discontinuity across Central India along with Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir were affecting the weather in plains of North India resulting in partly cloudy weather, dust storm and thundershowers. This also resulted in a significant drop in day temperatures.

For instance in Haryana, Ambala currently has day temperature of 26.5°C which is 9 degrees below normal, Karnal has day temperature of 24°C, 11 degrees below normal and Narnaul has 32°C as maximum temperature which is 5 degrees below normal. Delhi too is witnessing day temperature which is settling 3 degrees below normal.

Though dry and hot northwesterly winds from Pakistan and Rajasthan are expected to influence the weather in northern and central parts of India starting from tomorrow. The weather will also impact night temperatures that will also witness a gradual rise.
