Temp continue to rise in Delhi NCR, warm days ahead

Delhi-NCR has been witnessing clear and sunny days since past few days. As of today, Safdarjung Observatory recorded a maximum of 27°C, three degrees above normal. Meanwhile, minimum temperature settled at 14.4°C, three degrees above normal.

Palam Observatory recorded day maximum of 29.5°C, five degrees above normal. Meanwhile, minimum temperature settled at 14.4°C, three degrees above normal.

These warm weather conditions are expected to continue for another three days over the national capital. The sky is likely to remain partly cloudy to cloudy with medium and high clouds.

However, in spite of these clouds, day maximums will continue to settle above normal, while minimum temperature may rise marginally.

No weather activity is expected over Delhi, as the prevailing medium and high clouds are not capable of giving any rain and thundershowers over the region.

The Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir will also persist till February 20, thereafter, it is expected to move away eastwards. With this, the relatively dry and cool winds from snow-clad mountains will once again commence over the northwestern plains including Delhi-NCR.

In wake of this, temperatures are expected to dip by 3 to 4 degrees after February 21. But in spite of fall in temperatures, the winter chill will not make a comeback, morning and night hours will be cool but not chilly.

As per meteorologists at Skymet Weather, January 2016 witnessed the warmest winter in five years. But comparatively, this year the month was not warm and the winter chill maintained its grip over the region.

Likewise looking at the data for the month of February, 2015 saw the warmest February in span of last five years. However, February 2017 may surpass this record as mercury is likely to rise further across Delhi in the next 3-4 days.
