As on April 27, Churu recorded maximum temperature to the tune of 46.5°C, Bundi 46°C, Sri Ganganagar 45.5°C and Sawai Madhopur 45.4°C.
In fact, the night temperatures also remained very high. In districts such as Jodhpur and Ajmer, the minimum temperatures settled more than 30°C.
As per weathermen, the intense hot weather is due to the continuous dry spell over Central India and the hot winds blowing over these regions. With this, the day temperatures are settling above the normal level leading to heatwave conditions in some pockets.
As per Skymet Weather, the maximum temperatures are expected to rise further. Thus, heatwave conditions are further expected to intensify and may cover parts of Southwest Rajasthan, North Rajasthan and Southeast Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha during the next 48 hours. Places such Barmer, Jaisalmer, Phalodi, and Bikaner may observe a rise in day temperatures.
If we compare heatwave conditions with last year, this year there were fewer instances of heatwave in the country as the day maximums were recorded less in numbers. Only a few pockets of Central India have observed heatwave conditions until now.
