delhi post

People of North India these days are whirling under cool morning and nights while the day temperatures are also comfortable. The reason for the sudden change in the weather pattern across Northwest India can be attributed to the gradual fall in the temperature profile.

The mercury levels that were shooting up to settle beyond the 35-degree mark a few days back after the withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from this region and due to the absence of rains have now curtailed several notches and are seen under the aforesaid mark.

This is a clear indication that winters have already started stretching its leg towards North India that is likely to be bound soon by the wintery chill. This kind of weather as per Skymet Weather is expected to continue in most parts of North India for at least another 4-5 days.

The pollution level is also expected to increase during morning hours leading to haze or mist formation during the early morning hours in most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh. In fact, the isolated pockets of Punjab and Haryana can also witness shallow fog for a short duration.

This mist formation is basically due to the pollution levels that are at its peak as the winters approach. This is the present case as well. The wind flow will be northwesterly and light thus leading to poor visibility levels. The weather across Northern plains will continue to remain dry with clear skies but haziness is anticipated to prevail.

Moreover, as per Skymet Weather, the temperatures are likely to plunge further, and this weather condition is expected to continue for another 4-5 days.

The daytime high is expected to remain in lower 30’s in most parts of Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh in a few stations such as Ludhiana, Amritsar, Bareilly, Moradabad, Meerut, Karnal, Yamuna Nagar and Kurukshetra. While the minimums across these districts are likely to remain in teens in the range of 14-17 degrees Celsius.
