The active Western Disturbance which was affecting Western Himalayas is now seen moving away. This system was also affecting the plains of North India since past 2 to 3 days.

Since past few days, northern plains of India have been witnessing significant increase in night temperatures. This can be attributed to the warm and humid easterly-southeasterly winds blowing across the region.

Now that dry and icy winds have commenced from North direction, minimum temperatures over northwestern plains of the country namely West Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and North Rajasthan have plummeted by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius during last 24 hours.

According to Skymet Weather, the northerly winds are expected to pick up pace anytime soon. As a result, night temperatures over entire northwest plains will further drop by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius in another 48 hours. Thus, leading to cold wave conditions at some places over Punjab, Southwest Haryana and North Rajasthan.

Furthermore, these moderate icy cold winds are expected to impact maximum temperatures as well, which will drop leading to winter chill conditions.

The sky will remain clear and sunshine is very much likely to prevail. But in spite of bright sunshine, cold winds will make the weather chilly. So we can say that next week is expected to be the coldest of this season.
