As reiterated by Skymet Weather, heavy pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers have lashed many parts of Telangana during the last 24 hours. Particularly, the capital city of Hyderabad had record-breaking 75.4 mm of rain in the wee hours of Friday.
The much awaited ongoing wet spell has brought much-neededd respite from scorching heat over the state. In wake of the rains and thundershowers, the day maximums have registered significant drop.
The weather activity can be attributed to the wind discontinuity seen from East Madhya Pradesh up to Comorin area across Telangana and Interior Karnataka.
From March 1 to May 6, the state has recorded 47.9 mm of rain against the normal average of 30 mm resulting in 60% of excess rainfall.
Skymet Weather predicts that activity will continue for another 48 hours, which will keep the temperatures under check.
