The dry spell that was prevailing over Tamil Nadu got eradicated almost two to three days back after few districts of the state managed to witness rains.
Skymet Weather had already iterated about the possibility of scattered light rains in parts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai. Partly cloudy conditions were prevailing over the parts of the state that resulted in rains.
As per Skymet Weather, a feeble trough is presently over Coastal Tamil Nadu. Another trough is extending from Comorin Area to East Bay of Bengal. In the wake of this, the state got to see the downpour.
As of now, the intensity of rain and thundershower activities are likely to increase. The interior and southern regions of Tamil Nadu are therefore expected to witness more rains.
At present also, low and medium clouds along with a few convective clouds can be seen over the state. Hence, scattered rains are predicted to continue for the next 2-3 days over many parts of the state. In particular, interior regions of the state is likely to observe more intense rains as compared with the coastal regions.
The capital city, Chennai is also likely to witness light showers but the possibility of heavy downpour is ruled out as the impact of the trough will remain over southern parts only.
