Tamil Nadu receives good rains, Chennai to follow

In the anticipation of Monsoon, rains have increased over the state of Kerala. So much so that some areas have been recording heavy rains as well. These rains have also encroached the interior parts of Tamil Nadu resulting in good showers over the state.

Before the onset of Monsoon, rains over Kerala and Tamil Nadu is a natural phenomenon. Moist westerly have led to good showers over Tamil Nadu. Now, Chennai rains may also make a reappearance during the next 48 hours.

While some areas have received light to moderate rains over Tamil Nadu, heavy rainfall has also occurred over a few areas. These rains have resulted in a drop in the temperatures over many regions as well.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Valparai in Coimbatore district recorded around 90 mm of rain, followed by about 70 mm of rain in Aravakurichi in Karur District. Other areas in Sivaganga and Salem district have also recorded about 60 mm rain.

Now, these showers are likely to continue for another 24 hours. Light to moderate rain will continue over many areas of Tamil Nadu.  In fact, isolated pockets of Tamil Nadu may receive heavy showers as well.
