Tamil Nadu and Kerala to continue receiving rains for the next 3 days

A wind discontinuity is extending from South Interior Karnataka to Comorin areas across Interior Tamil Nadu. Moreover, humid winds from Bay of Bengal as well as Arabian sea are feeding moisture over Interior Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Therefore, these areas have received good rain and thundershower activities during the last 24 hours. A few isolated spells were witnessed day before yesterday also.

This wind discontinuity is expected to persist for another two to three days. Due to moisture incursion and high temperatures we expect scattered rain and thundershower activities to continue over Kerala for the next 72 hours. Interior parts of Tamil Nadu will also receive on and off rain and thundershower activities. For next 24 hours, we do not expect much activities over Tamil Nadu coast but on the evening of April 19 and on April 20, we expect coastal Tamil Nadu to also receive few spells of rains. Chennai may also receive isolated rain and thundershower activities on April 20.

So, we can say that Pre-Monsoon activities will now pick up pace over South Peninsula leading to some comfort from ongoing hot and sultry weather conditions. Due to the persisting cloud cover clubbed with on and off rain and thundershower activities, the temperatures are set to fall by 2 to 3 degree Celsius over Kerala, leading to some relief.
