Tamil Nadu and Chennai set to receive good rains for the next few days

Rainfall activities have increased over Tamil Nadu in the last two days after Northeast Monsoon remained slow in the first half of November and rain deficiency prevailed in the state.

However, in the last two days, many cities have received more than normal rains and the deficiency has reduced marginally. A few cities like Karaikal and Parangipettai even managed to receive heavy rains in the last 24 hours. These rains remained mainly confined to the coastal regions of Tamil Nadu such as Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Kodaikanal and Chennai.  Moreover, the capital city of Chennai has been receiving rains for about a week now.

A trail of clouds is traveling from East to West. Thus, light to moderate rain is expected to continue over Tamil Nadu for the next few days. Heavy rain is likely in the state between November 28 and 29. These heavy rains will remain mostly confined to the coastal regions.

Thus, the rain deficiency is set to get arrested now and reduce marginally. However, the cumulative rain performance might turn out to be a little towards the deficient side by the end of the month.
