Blazing hot weather conditions have made a comeback over Delhi-NCR. Day maximums have been increasing for the last 48 hours, settling several notches above season’s average.

On Friday, Palam Observatory recorded 44.8°C, which was four degrees above normal. While, Safdarjung Observatory observed 42.7°C, two degrees above normal.

According to Skymet Weather, dry and hot northwesterly winds travelling from Pakistan and Rajasthan have started blowing over the city once again. In wake of this, mercury has registered a significant rise across the northwestern plains including Delhi.

Moreover, we do not expect any weather system to affect the region and thus, day temperatures are expected to further increase by 1-2 degrees during next few days.

Heatwave conditions are also likely to return to Delhi and people may feel loo effect during the afternoon hours. Heatwave conditions are experienced when day maximum exceeds 40°C and are above normal by five or more degrees.

With this, Delhiites will have to brave blazing hot weather conditions for at least next one week.

Some relief is likely June 9 onwards as a trough is likely to form near the national capital. It is likely to give rain and thundershowers on June 10 , ushering in much-needed relief.
