The southern part of the state of Gujarat has been witnessing good monsoon rains for the past few days. In fact, there have even been days when the reason did record heavy rains as well.
The last 24 hours were slightly different as heavy showers with isolated very heavy rains were witnessed over more parts of Gujarat.
In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 a.m on Monday, Surat recorded a massive 102 mm of rainfall followed by 96 mm of rain in Bhavnagar. Other areas to have received good rainfall activity include Valsad at 69 mm, Rajkot 59 mm, Mahuva 45 mm, Veraval 28 mm.

Meanwhile the city of Ahmedabad only witnessed light rainfall activity only to the tune of 5 mm.
These rainfall amounts have been responsible because of the cyclonic circulation which was persisting over Madhya Maharashtra region. Along with this, a low-pressure area which was over Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas has shifted towards south Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Vidarbha.

Not only this, the off shore trough has also become active along the West Coast enhancing the rainfall activity by feeding moisture over the Gujarat region.
As the low pressure is expected to move further westwards, more rainfall activity is expected over the state of Gujarat in the next 24 hours. In fact, the possibility of heavy rains over These areas cannot be ruled out as well.
Moderate to heavy rain and thundershower with moderate lightning is expected over Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman, Junagadh, Ahmadabad, Amreli, Anand, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Botad,Dwarka, Gandhinagar, Gir Somnath, Jamnagar, Kutch, Kheda, Mahesana, Mahisagar, Marvi, Narmada, Navsari, Patan, Porbandar, Rajkot, Surat, Surendranagar, Tapi, Vadodara, Valsad during next 24 hours. Flood like situation is possible over southern parts of the state.
