The National Capital Region has been experiencing dry and clear weather conditions since the last 48 hours. This has paved way for pleasant days and nights over Delhi and adjoining areas of Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.
Although we have entered second of March, summers have remained still at bay. Also, we do not see summers arriving any time soon as Delhi rains would once again make an appearance around Holi i.e. March 20 and 21.
Both day and night temperatures have been settling below the normal average. The minimum temperatures are settling way below normal with a difference of about 4˚C to 5˚C. Yesterday, Delhi’s Safdarjung Observatory recorded its night temperature at 12˚C, which was five notches below the mean.
Normally, by this time of the year, the minimums of Delhi-NCR are between 14˚C and 15˚C. Similarly, by the third week of March, the maximums over the region also touch 30˚C. But so far, we haven’t observed much rise in the day temperatures.
These weather conditions are expected to continue for another 48 hours. Tomorrow, towards later part of the day, thin cloud cover will appear over Delhi and its adjoining areas. This will occur in association with the Western Disturbance affecting the hills, which would also induce a cyclonic circulation over the northwestern plains.
In the coming two days, we will also observe the tendency of rise in maximum temperatures. Moreover, day temperatures may touch 30˚C. Whereas, night temperatures will continue to remain below normal.
Further between March 20 and 21, during the occasion of Holi, rain and thundershower activities will affect most parts of Delhi-NCR. During this period, slight rise in minimum temperatures is also expected, while maximums would dip again.
